Marcelo Bielsa told to sign Tottenham Hotspur man as a "priority" signing for Leeds United

Leeds United have been urged to sign Danny Rose in the January transfer window to solve their quest for a natural left-back.

The Whites played Stuart Dallas ahead of Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas last season as they earned promotion to the Premier League.

Dallas has also been used in midfield and on the right-hand side of defence, whilst Alioski - a converted winger - has shown lapses in concentration defensively.

With neither played a recognised left-back, Kevin Phillips has suggested they should sign Rose.

The Tottenham Hotspur defender is out of contract in the summer and has been exiled by Jose Mourinho.

With Rose unlikely to play any football this season, a move back to his boyhood club could suit all parties, claims Phillips.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “You can get away with Alioski at left-back in the Championship but when you face the likes of Chelsea it is a different ball game.

“In my opinion, a natural left-back would be on the priority list for Leeds next year.

“I imagine Leeds would look at Danny Rose. It will not be about money for him at this stage.

“He will want to play football and I am sure he would love to play in a Marcelo Bielsa side.

“It is an area that I think Bielsa will be looking at and Danny Rose – to me, it is a no brainer.

“A specialised, experienced left-back who is good on the ball. He could slot in quite nicely.”
