Marcelo Bielsa told the transfer that can take Leeds United to the next level

Leeds United have been told that the signing of Patrick van Aanholt from Crystal Palace could take Marcelo Bielsa's team to the "next level".

Leeds have been linked with a move for Netherlands international Van Aanholt in the summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old full-back is one of a host of Palace players in the final year of their current contract.

That has sparked speculation over his future, with Turkish side Galatasaray reported to be interested as well, while Leeds full-back Ezgjan Alioski, whose contract at Elland Road is due to expire in the summer, has also been linked with a move away from the club in the upcoming window.

Former Leeds and England defender Danny Mills reckons Van Aanholt would be a good replacement for Alioski should the North Macedonia international leave the club.

“I think he’s a good player," Mills told Football Insider when asked about the Van Aanholt link.

"He’s got an awful lot of quality to offer. He’s somebody with experience, he’s been in the Premier League now for some time.

“Someone with experience that comes in and does a really good job. He’s an international.

“He adds more quality and maybe that’s the sort of signing that takes Leeds to the next level.”

Van Aanholt has been with Palace since 2017, having previously had spells at Chelsea and Sunderland.

He has made more than 350 career appearances, including more than 200 in the Premier League.

This season, he has played 18 times in the league for Palace - all but one of them starts.
