Marcelo Bielsa speaks out after Patrick Bamford ends Leeds United goal drought

Patrick Bamford ended his goal drought during Leeds United’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town yesterday.

Having failed to score in his previous seven starts for the Whites, Bamford sealed three points for Marcelo Bielsa’s side at Elland Road with his first goal since the end of January.

Bamford scored his 13th Championship goal of the campaign in the 51st minute of yesterday’s win following Luke Ayling’s sensational third minute strike.

Leeds boss Bielsa was delighted to see Bamford return to scoring ways against the Terriers and admits that his second half goal was a typical striker’s goal.

“Happy for him,” Bielsa said after the Whites’ Yorkshire derby triumph.

“Centre-forwards needs to score and he couldn’t do it for a long time.

“Today he scored a typical goal from a centre-forward. It is going to be useful for him.”

Of Bamford’s 13 goals this season, 10 of them have come during matches that Leeds have earned three points in.

From the 71 points Leeds have earned this season, 10 have been earned directly via Bamford’s goals.
