Award recognition keeps coming for Marcelo Bielsa more than a week after his Leeds United team lifted the Championship title.
After the highs of the championship, promotion and LMA Championship Manager of the Year, Bielsa is now up for the division’s Manager of the Month gong.
The Whites romped to six wins from six matches in July with an aggregate score of 17-2 too, making Bielsa a favourite for the prize.
It would be the Argentine’s third monthly award since arriving at the start of 2018/19. His last came in November 2019.
In this instance he is up against Swansea City’s Steve Cooper, Luton Town’s Nathan Jones, Stoke City’s Michael O’Neill, Fulham’s Scott Parker and Barnsley’s Gerhard Struber.
The judging panel comprises veteran manager Danny Wilson, pundit Don Goodman, EFL communications director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
They said: “When it mattered, not only did Leeds not fall apart again, but the Argentine instilled such belief in his methods that his players romped to the Championship title in style with a perfect six wins from six games and a colossal 17-2 goal differential.”
No United players have been shortlisted for Player of the Month, which will be won by either Blackburn Rovers’ Adam Armstrong, Stoke’s Danny Batth, Brentford’s Said Benrahma or Wigan Athletic’s Kieran Dowell.
Winners will be announced on July 31.
