Marcelo Bielsa's tribute to Leeds United's backroom staff after fitness again makes the difference

Leeds United sit at the top of the Championship today following two late goals in four days and head coach Marcelo Bielsa was quick to hand out praise to his players and backroom team.

Jack Harrison headed home a Helder Costa cross in the 87th minute to give Leeds United a 1-0 victory against Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

This late winner comes just four days after a last gasp winner courtesy of an own goal from Matt Pearson which gave Leeds United all three points away at Luton Town on Saturday.

Speaking to the press after the game, Marcelo Bielsa gave credit to the backroom staff as well as the players, saying the fitness levels had made the difference.

He said: "In the second half we kept intensity and we achieved difference in this sense. Physical and medical areas in the club, they make a lot of effort to keep the players healthy and fit and you can see this on the pitch. And also the players make a big effort to keep the intensity in the match.

"The physical performance and skill of the players is something we have to congratulate them on. And the people who prepare them physically and they take care of their health, help them to achieve good performance."

The fitness levels of the Leeds United players will be critical heading into the weekend when Leeds United play their third game in eight days. Leeds United take on Middlesbrough at Elland Road on Saturday at 3pm.
