Marcelo Bielsa's outlines his Leeds United priorities for the international break

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has highlighted the importance of his squad getting as much rest as possible over the international break ahead of resuming their Championship campaign in just under a fortnight's time.

Leeds kept hot on the heels of the automatic promotion places with Saturday's 2-1 triumph over Blackburn Rovers, only being kept out of the top two by Preston North End, who are in front of the Whites on goal-difference.

But following the break, Leeds will resume their Championship campaign with a trip to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town, a fixture that will signal the start of nine games before the turn of the year as Leeds get set for the hectic festive period.

"First of all, the players have to rest," said Bielsa when asked about how he will approach the international break.

"Even more because we don't stop in December, the Championship continues.

"In 40 days we are going to have ten matches. We are going to have some weeks with three matches a week. So first of all, rest.

"And after that we prepare for the Luton match."

Leeds are currently one point better off than they were at this stage last season, when they led the Championship.
