Marcelo Bielsa's joy at seeing Stuart Dallas 'shine' in matchwinning Man City display

Here is the early morning Leeds United digest on Sunday, April 11.

Bielsa's Dallas joy

Stuart Dallas was the hero of the hour on Saturday with his match-winning brace handing Leeds United their best win of the season so far.

Following the 2-1 win at Manchester City, Marcelo Bielsa was effusive in his praise for the Northern Irishman.

"It gave me great happiness for him" Bielsa said in his post-match press conference. "Because he's a player whose game is based a lot on generosity. He is a player who helps all his team-mates to recover the ball and to not lose it. And the goal gives a lot of shine to whoever manages to score it.

"For him to have scored two goals is normally an anomaly. It's deserved, it's comforting, it's good. And this year has allowed Dallas to show a part of himself that we didn't know he had."

Guardiola praise

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola singled out Leeds United's tenacity following the Whites upset victory at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

City had won 27 of their last 28 matches going into Saturday lunchtime kick-off, but Stuart Dallas' 91st-minute winner for ten-man Leeds meant that the Citizens' title procession was checked.

"I congratulate Leeds first of all," Guardiola said following the match, who had previously made it clear that he considered Leeds the 'worst' opponent his side could face between their two Champions League quarter-final legs against Borussia Dortmund.

His fears were realised at the Etihad Stadium and following the defeat he expanded on why Leeds are such a hard opponent to face, even when they were down to ten men following Liam Cooper's first-half red card.

Player ratings

While Stuart Dallas took the headlines with his injury time winner on Saturday, he was not the only Leeds player to put in an outstanding performance.

Beren Cross dished out his player ratings at the Etihad Stadium with Dallas among a host of players to score high marks against the Premier League leaders.
