Marcelo Bielsa's defiant message to national media digging out Leeds United

Marcelo Bielsa came under fire from the national media once again in Manchester last night as his Leeds United hit 30 goals conceded from 14 matches.

As Manchester United stuck another six past the Whites at Old Trafford in the Sunday afternoon kick-off, some broadcasters and writers got stuck into Bielsa after such a high-profile fixture.

The other side of the coin, for this newly-promoted side, is they have also scored more goals than more than half of the Premier League this term.

As Bielsa said in his post-match press conference last night: “When we lose there are questions about the style of play and when we win we are praised for it.”

This is a joyous, entertaining brand of football which has delivered United from the evil of 16 years in the EFL.

Nobody in West Yorkshire wants him to change and his message to those questioning him on the TV was clear, simple and defiant.

“I already explained what I thought happened in the game,” he said. “If the opposing team is able to impose their style on us it means, the opposing manager in this case, I wasn’t able to neutralise it.

“We will correct what is bad and try to keep the good things, but we will not abandon the way we play.”
