Marcelo Bielsa's brilliant response when asked for team news ahead of Wigan match

Leeds United travel to Wigan Athletic this weekend as they get back to action in the Championship following the midweek Carabao Cup win at Salford City.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa made seven changes for the trip to Moor Lane and was rewarded with a 3-0 win, as he handed full Leeds United debuts to summer signings Eddie Nketiah and Helder Costa.

After seeing those that were given a run-out against the League Two side impress, Bielsa was asked in his pre-match press conference how his team to face the Latics would look and, just like he did earlier in the week ahead of the Salford clash, referred back to his habit of naming his XI in advance.

After revealing on Monday that he had received a letter from a fan urging him not to reveal his team 48 hours in advance, he again returned to this debate.

"We cannot say the team two days before the game," he said during his Thorp Arch press conference.

"One supporter told him he is giving too much away, but between us it’s going to be the same team," he continued with a grin on his face, much to the amusement of the assembled media.

That means Bielsa is set to revert to the side that were held 1-1 by Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but he did address the issue of team selection, given the impressive performances on display on Tuesday night.

"We cannot play all the league with 11 players. We always are going to need one or more in each position.

"That’s why we try to control every time. When you need changes for injuries or cards or form, allows us to find a player at a good level."

Leeds travel to he DW Stadium on Saturday for a 3pm kick-off.
