In 48 hours, Leeds United’s players will already be leaving another field of play in the Premier League.
The clash with West Bromwich Albion, fresh from a rare point at Anfield tonight, kicks off at 6pm on Tuesday night, just 52 hours after full-time with Burnley.
This is not a new problem, we all know what the Christmas schedule is like in English football. If anything, this is the least intense Christmas Marcelo Bielsa has had here.
After two years of relentless fixtures in the Championship, once this tight turnaround is through, they have another four days before Tottenham Hotspur and then another eight before Crawley Town in the FA Cup.
While Bielsa will not be losing too much sleep about swift trip down to Birmingham, it was still worth asking about changes and recovery after today’s game.
Already, as you’re reading this, Rob Price, Tom Robinson and the medical professionals at Leeds will be working their alchemy to get the players out of the red.
Rodrigo and Mateusz Klich, subbed in the Burnley game, looked especially sluggish at times, but how does Bielsa plan to get them and their team-mates right?
“There's procedures to facilitate and to speed up the recovery of the players all the teams use,” he said.
“[They are] linked to hydrotherapy and kinesiology, nutrition and the rest.”
While Bielsa is likely to still be without Robin Koch, Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente at The Hawthorns, other departments in his squad are looking well-stocked.
Ian Poveda, Tyler Roberts, Helder Costa, Pablo Hernandez and Jamie Shackleton are all available for Bielsa to call upon of any tired legs need resting before the trip to Spurs.
