Marcelo Bielsa reacts to the pressure from anxious Leeds United fans after poor run ends

Marcelo Bielsa has insisted Leeds are not feeling the promotion pressure after Patrick Bamford led a dramatic fightback and got their Championship title charge back on track.

The striker scored twice as the Yorkshiremen grabbed three goals in 18 second half minutes to wipe out a two-goal Millwall lead and steady a major wobble.

It was only their second win in nine games, following a miserable five weeks, but it puts Leeds back on top of the Championship.

There's been an increasingly desperate feel to Elland Road, with fans frustrated.

But an angry fervour fuelled a spirited turnaround against the Lions.

It could turn out to be a significant moment in their bid to return to the top flight.

Bielsa said: "This win was deserved, and is a lesson. The performance was important.

“When the fans are not satisfied, with a player or a team, in this moment it can be external pressure.

“But we don't feel this pressure because the players demands of themselves are greater than from the supporters.

“When you start losing a game, it is difficult to come back and win.

“In the second half we had a lot of chances. Their shape meant they needed energy so as the game went on we found spaces.”

Patrick Bamford is under pressure for his starting place after the arrival of Jean-Kevin Augustin on loan from RB Leipzig this week.

His two goals take his tally for the season to twelve. Bielsa has hinted he should score more.

He added: “Bamford, in every match he has four or five chances to score. Against Millwall the difference is he scores twice.”

Leeds could face an investigation after pictures emerged of coins being thrown after Millwall celebrated their second goal. Bielsa added: “I didn't see it. But I can never agree with this.”

Millwall boss Gary Rowett said: “They are by far the best side we've played. Coins? I saw Jed hand something to the ref at some point. It is an atmosphere you can afford to concede an early second half goal.”
