Marcelo Bielsa quizzed on Jack Clarke's loan deal after Mauricio Pochettino sacking

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has suggested that Mauricio Pochettino's sacking at Tottenham Hotspur will not likely have any impact on Jack Clarke's loan deal at Elland Road.

Premier League Tottenham, who sent Clarke back to Leeds on loan after buying him in the summer, brought Pochettino's five-year stint with the club to an end on Tuesday evening, sacking him following a recent dip in results.

Less than 12 hours later, Spurs, who reached the Champions League Final last season, appointed Jose Mourinho as his replacement, meaning a new manager may have fresh plans for his current squad and those out on loan.

But when Bielsa was asked about the possibility of Clarke's situation changing following Mourinho's appointment, the Leeds chief revealed that he never spoke to Pochettino about Clarke and his main focus is on making the youngster a better player.

"I never spoke with Pochettino about Jack Clarke," Bielsa said.

"I didn’t talk with anyone at Tottenham about him. About his job it’s the same situation.

"Every day I try to do the best for Clarke. After, Tottenham and Clarke will value if we are doing enough with him."

So far this term, Clarke has featured just twice for Leeds, with both appearances coming in the Carabao Cup.
