Marcelo Bielsa provides Leeds United injury update ahead of FA Cup clash vs Arsenal

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has provided the latest injury update ahead of his side's FA Cup clash with Arsenal on Monday.

Striker Tyler Roberts was left out of the Leeds squad for the crucial New Year's Day clash against West Bromwich Albion, a game that ended in a 1-1- draw.

The 20-year-old had made his comeback from injury in the previous game, but Bielsa has said that he was left out of the game as a precaution.

"He didn’t feel 100 per cent recovered from the problem in his leg," Bielsa told his post-match press conference, as reported by LeedsLive .

"Maybe he could have participated, but we didn’t want to take this risk.

The Whites will now be without Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah after he returned to the Emirates Stadium this week after cutting short his loan deal with the Championship club.

Bielsa has said that the Arsenal man's departure was another reason , along with the departure of fellow loanee Jack Clarke and the injury to forward Pablo Hernandez, that he decided to protect Roberts ahead of the trip to the Emirates Stadium.

"We think he’s a choice at centre-forward and also as playmaker. He can play as a winger too. We are going to miss Pablo, Clarke, Nketiah, so we want to protect him," he added.
