Marcelo Bielsa outlines the difficulties Leeds United's quick turnaround brings

Leeds United return to action on Tuesday night when they make the trip to Preston North End, just three days after their win over Birmingham City.

The 1-0 victory over the Blues meant that Leeds were able to bounce back from the defeat at Millwall before the international break, but Marcelo Bielsa will not have anything like the time to prepare for the visit to Deepdale than he did for this weekend's win.

Bielsa will again be without the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Liam Cooper, Adam Forshaw and Jamie Shackleton against Alex Neil's side and he has admitted that the quick turn-about presents issues.

"Resting is the most important for the players," he said when he spoke to the media ahead ahead of Wednesday night's clash.

"With some brief stimulus on the pitch, a powerful stimulus is also necessary. Trying so the players doesn’t always feel demanded.

"When we have more days we have more possibilities to give more messages because you can put those messages in a period of time longer. In a brief period if you give a lot of messages, the players could be a little bit more tired.

"For competing in the Championship you have to be well in the fitness sense, but also mental. Not only the Championship, but professional football."

Leeds moved back up to second place in the table following Saturday's win, with Preston dropping to sixth place following an injury-time defeat at Reading.
