Here is your Leeds United morning digest on Thursday, December 17.
Bielsa’s view on Newcastle win
Leeds were sensational in their 5-2 victory over Newcastle United yesterday evening and manager Marcelo Bielsa has revealed what impressed him most about the win.
Goals from Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo Moreno, Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and Jack Harrison ensured the Whites overtook their opponents.
Bielsa has hailed his side’s ability to keep hold of the ball against an in-form Newcastle side at Elland Road.
The Leeds manager spoke to the media after the game and said: “We managed the ball very patiently. That’s what most impressed me about the team.”

Leeds player ratings
With Leeds playing so well on Wednesday evening, this may have been one of Leeds Live’s most difficult player ratings of the season.
However, there were some obvious standouts with Rodrigo and Harrison leading the ratings in the battering of Newcastle. Luke Ayling was the only man in a white shirt to score under a six on the night, with the Whites defender playing a part in both of the Magpies’ goals.
But overall for the hosts, it was a fantastic all-round performance and a much-needed win as the fixture list continues to become more congested. Read the player ratings from the 5-2 victory here.
What Lineker said about Leeds
Gary Lineker has hailed Leeds after their impressive victory over Newcastle in the Premier League.
The Whites showed signs of just what they can do in the top-flight with a very exciting and free-flowing attacking display.
Lineker, who often tweets about Leeds and Bielsa, once again shared his opinion following the victory at Elland Road. The former England striker said: “Love watching @LUFC play. Banged in 5 tonight and the final goal from Jack Harrison is an absolute belter."
