Marcelo Bielsa offers update on Jean-Kevin Augustin's Leeds United future as loan nears end

Marcelo Bielsa has admitted no decision has yet been made on whether to extend Jean-Kevin Augustin's loan deal at Leeds United.

Augustin moved to Elland Road from RB Leipzig in the January transfer window on a loan deal until the end of the season.

But with the Championship campaign having been postponed until last week due to the coronavirus pandemic, loanees had to extend their deals until the end of the 2019/20 season or leave the club after 30 June.

Leeds have already confirmed that Jack Harrison, Ben White, Illan Meslier and Helder Costa have all put pen-to-paper on extensions for the promotion run-in.

However, there was no official update on Augustin, whose deal at Elland Road expires next week.

And ahead of Leeds' clash against Fulham on Saturday, Bielsa has confirmed the club are yet to make a decision on the striker.

"We are following what he's doing and after we evaluate what he's doing, we take a decision," Bielsa said in his press conference.

Since arriving at Leeds, Augustin has been restricted to just three substitute appearances due to injury problems.

The 23-year-old was left out of the squad for Leeds' 2-0 defeat to Cardiff on Sunday - a result which saw Bielsa's side drop to second in the table.

Fulham are the visitors to Elland Road on Saturday, and a Leeds victory would open up a 10-point gap over the west Londoners in the automatic promotion spots.
