Marcelo Bielsa offers insight into what new signing Eddie Nketiah has shown in training

There's no doubt that the name Leeds United fans were getting most excited about on deadline day was that of Arsenal and England under-21 youngster Eddie Nketiah. After the Daniel James saga that marked the previous deadline day, fans breathed a definite sigh of relief when his signing was confirmed last week.

Speaking to the press ahead of the Carabao Cup tie against Salford City, Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa gave an insight into Nketiah's early days at the club.

"Friday and Saturday he did evaluations, tests," he said. "Yesterday [Monday] he did real training, same as today."

He revealed that the 20-year-old, who has made 25 appearances for England at various youth levels, will feature against Salford in some capacity, saying: "I don’t know how many minutes, but he will be involved."

Bielsa was asked what he has made of the newest addition to his squad in training. He said: "All the minutes that he had in the Arsenal and national teams, we could watch these minutes. Then I have an idea about the skills and capabilities of the player.

"In these two days when we’re working with him, it's very easy to show in training what he’s showing in the games.

"He’s a complex player because he has a lot of capabilities," he added.

Nketiah made nine senior appearances for Arsenal last season, scoring once in the Premier League against Burnley.

Leeds United play Salford City in the Carabao Cup at Moor Lane at 7.45pm on Tuesday night.
