Marcelo Bielsa names two Leeds United debutants to face West Ham United as Bamford misses out

Leeds United's FA Cup Third Round tie pits them against high-flying West Ham United in this afternoon's fixture at the London Stadium.

The Whites are looking to reach the Fourth Round of this competition for the first time under manager Marcelo Bielsa, who has suffered consecutive defeats to Queens Park Rangers, Arsenal and Crawley Town at this stage of the cup.

West Ham United come into this fixture in fine form, having breached the top seven in the league, while Leeds arrive in the capital on the back of a 3-1 victory over Burnley.

Boss Marcelo Bielsa has named two debutants in his starting XI to face the Hammers, with Leo Hjelde and Lewis Bate making their first appearances for the club.

However, centre-forward Patrick Bamford is not involved in the matchday squad, seemingly still recovering from a hamstring injury suffered last month.

Bamford has missed 13 of Leeds United's last 14 league matches, and sat out last weekend's win over the Clarets at Elland Road despite his own admission that his conditional involvement would be 'touch-and-go.'

While the wait goes on for Bamford's return, two youngsters signed in the summer, Leo Hjelde and Lewis Bate do make today's starting line-up, which will see them become the club's 850th and 851st debutants.

Both have impressed with the U23 side this season and have been named on the substitutes' bench on a handful of occasions already this season.

French U21 goalkeeper Illan Meslier continues in goal, meaning Kristoffer Klaesson's wait for a debut goes on, meanwhile U23 forward Sam Greenwood makes his first start for the club in attack.

Greenwood made his debut off the bench in this competition away to Crawley last season, and has appeared twice for the senior side this season - both times off the bench against Arsenal.

Here is the starting XI Marcelo Bielsa has named ahead of today's 2 o'clock kick-off.

Leeds United XI: Meslier; Ayling, Llorente, Hjelde, Firpo; Koch, Bate, Klich; James, Harrison, Greenwood

Subs: Klaesson, Summerville, Jenkins, Forshaw, Moore, Dallas, Drameh, McCarron, Raphinha
