Marcelo Bielsa makes crazy Jack Grealish claim ahead of Leeds vs Aston Villa

Marcelo Bielsa has made the crazy claim that he hopes Aston Villa star Jack Grealish is fit to face Leeds on Saturday.

Grealish is struggling to be fit for Villa's trip to Elland Road and missed Sunday’s defeat to Leicester.

Villa boss Dean Smith has refused to go into specifics on the nature of the England midfielder’s injury and Bielsa hopes it does not rule him out on Saturday.

The Leeds head coach says he always prefers to face the opposing team’s best players, even if if makes them “more scary”.

Bielsa claims Grealish’s presence would inspire his Leeds players and help them to play better.

Most other managers would disagree with Bielsa and Grealish has been in great form this season, scoring six goals and contributing 10 assists in the Premier League for Villa.

But Bielsa said: “On one side he is a great player, a player who can unbalance a team.

“I always prefer it when the opponent has their best players available even if that fortifies their team, the best players make their teams more scary, more difficult to face.

“They’re also a stimulus for us. We should want to face such players, who are playing so well, to neutralise them, to look to impose ourselves on their best players when their team is not debilitated.

“Like I said before about Aston Villa, they have a squad with enough quality players to cover any absences.”
