Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has said new signing Jean-Kevin Augustin will be 'useful for the needs we have' as he discussed the striker's potential impact at Elland Road.
The Whites sealed a loan deal for the French forward on Thursday morning, shortly before Bielsa spoke to the press to preview Tuesday night's Championship fixture against Millwall.
"He’s a centre forward with movement, mobility," said Bielsa. "He’s involved in the combined play from the team. And he has a lot of presence in the box and he’s going to be useful for the needs we have.
"He’s a player who has a well known background. A good history. Even as a young player. When he used to play in the academy was one of the more he was one of the more well-known players in the world.
When he was asked if he expected Augustin to be involved against Millwall, Bielsa continued: "I don’t think he’s going to be involved tomorrow. He arrived today."
Augustin arrives on a loan deal for the rest of the season, with Leeds having the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign.
He will wear the number 29 short in West Yorkshire after spending the first half of this season on loan at Ligue 1 side AS Monaco where he has started two games and failed to score.
He made his way through the ranks at Paris Saint-German where he made his senior debut in 2015.
In 2017 he made the move to the Bundesliga, joining RB Leipzig for a reported fee of €13m. He has played in the Champions League and Europa League and scored against Celtic in November 2018.
