Marcelo Bielsa's Liam Cooper injury update after Leeds United skipper limps off during Blackburn win

Marcelo Bielsa is hopeful that the injury Liam Cooper suffered during the win over Blackburn Rovers is not as 'heavy' as the problem that saw him miss three games last month.

The Leeds United skipper limped off with what appeared to be a groin problem in the 72nd minute of the 2-1 win over Rovers and was replaced by Gaetano Berardi as the Whites won consecutive games for the first time since August.

Cooper injured his groin in the win over West Bromwich Albion last month, but Bielsa said he believes that his captain's latest problem is not as serious.

"Honestly, I didn’t ask yet," he said following the Elland Road win.

"But I think that it could be the same as the other time, but not so heavy injury."

Goals from Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison put Leeds 2-0 up after 35 minutes before Derrick Williams pulled one back shortly before the break.

Leeds held out to claim the points which means they remain third in the Championship table after leaders West Brom and second-placed Preston North End both won on Saturday.

Next up for Leeds is a trip to Luton in two weeks' time. Cooper joins the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Adam Forshaw, Jamie Shackleton and Gjanni Alioski on the treatment table.
