Marcelo Bielsa handed triple Leeds United boost as he confirms team news ahead of Brighton clash

Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that Diego Llorente, Tyler Roberts and Liam Cooper are all available to face Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

Leeds United host the Seagulls at Elland Road as they return to action following last weekend's shock 3-0 FA Cup defeat at League Two Crawley Town and will be able to welcome back a number of players who have been recently sidelined.

"Llorente, Roberts and Cooper are all available," Bielsa said during his Thursday afternoon pre-match press conference.

Skipper Cooper returned last weekend and played 45 minutes at the Broadfield Stadium following an abdominal strain that had kept him out of Leeds' last three Premier League games, while fellow defender Llorente has been sidelined since last month's defeat at Chelsea.

That substitute appearance was the Spain international's first outing in a Leeds shirt since his summer signing after he has been hit with a number of injury issues, but is now available again.

Finally, Tyler Roberts returns to Bielsa's first-team picture after he was deemed 'unavailable' for the defeats against Tottenham and Crawley.

Leeds will have to make do without Kalvin Phillips, who misses out due to suspension following his fifth yellow cards of the season at Spurs.

Bielsa confirmed there are no other new absentees on Saturday.

"No, just Phillips," Bielsa said.

Leeds suffered a 3-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in their last Premier League match and will go into the Seagulls clash sitting 12th in the table, having won 23 points from their first 17 matches.

Their following match was due to be another home game against Southampton on Tuesday, but that fixture has been postponed so that Southampton can play their rearragned FA CUp third-round tie against Shrewsbury that night, after the League One were forced into postponing last weekend's match after a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.
