Marcelo Bielsa explains what he told Leeds United players after 'giving' goal to Aston Villa

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has explained his decision to allow Aston Villa to score in the Championship game at Elland Road.

Villa players were left fuming as Mateusz Klich ran through to put them in front on 71 minutes.

Jonathan Kodjia was down injured but Leeds refused to put the ball out of play. The incident after the goal saw Villa's Anwar El Ghazi for a clash with Patrick Bamford who was booked.

Bielsa made it clear to his players that he wanted Villa to be allowed to score.

Leeds defender Pontus Jansson argued with his boss about this decision before trying to stop Albert Adomah as he ran through. Adomah managed to score and order was restored.

The game at Elland Road finished 1-1 with the sides potentially on course to meet again in the Championship play-off final.

Asked by Sky Sports if it was the right thing to do, he explained: "Give the ball back. Just give the ball back.

"The facts are what everyone saw and we express our interpretation of the facts by doing what we did.

"English football is known for sportmanship. I don't have to comment on this sort of thing."
