Marcelo Bielsa explains Illan Meslier stance as Kiko Casilla FA hearing looms ahead of Reading

Marcelo Bielsa has insisted that Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is not feeling any mental pressure ahead of his FA hearing.

The Whites' goalkeeper has been charged by the governing body with alleged racist abuse against Charlton Athletic forward Jonathan Leko.

Should the Spaniard be found guilty he could face a six-game ban, the same punishment awarded to Sheffield Wednesday striker Fernando Forestieri earlier this season.

However, Bielsa has insisted that, despite not speaking to Casilla directly, his mindset has not been affected by the possibility of a ban.

"It is a situation that we have to resolve," Bielsa explained, when asked how the situation has affected his preparations for Reading.

"It is correct that we adapt ourselves the way they decided to resolve this situation."

On Casilla, Bielsa added: "I haven't spoken to him but I've observed his behaviour and it is totally normal."

With the situation expected to be resolved this week, Illan Meslier could be called into action against Reading on Saturday.

The youngster is yet to make his Championship debut for the Whites and has featured just once this season, in the FA Cup third round against Arsenal.

When asked about the levels that Meslier is performing at should he be called upon to stand in for Casilla, Bielsa added: "Meslier is the option if Kiko doesn't play.

"In this situation (FA Cup vs Arsenal) or other and when he played the direction of him was in the level of our expectation."

The Leeds United boss also confirmed that there were no updates on the injury front, with the same squad available to him as against Bristol City last weekend.
