Marcelo Bielsa drops Leeds team news hint vs Preston which could be bad news for Eddie Nketiah

Eddie Nketiah might have to wait even longer for his first Championship start for Leeds United.

The striker, who is on loan at Elland Road from Arsenal this season, has made 14 appearances for the Whites thus far in the league and has weighed in with three goals.

However, all of those appearances have come from the bench.

Everton 0-0 Arsenal: Freddie Ljungberg press conference

The latest of which was against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon.

He was introduced at half-time with the visitors trailing 1-0 as head coach Marcelo Bielsa opted to pair the Gunners wonderkid in attack with Patrick Bamford.

That looked to have been the trick as the latter did equalise in the 54th minute.

But Josh Onomah scored what turned out to be the winner with just under 20 minutes remaining as Leeds failed to take advantage of leaders West Brom dropping points at home to Brentford.

As a result, Biesla didn't seem too happy with the formation change and dropped a hint over his team selection for the Boxing Day clash against Preston North End.

"We lost the link between the defence and the attack," Bielsa said, as per Leeds Live.

"When you have two centre forwards you are going to have good presence in the box, as we had it, but if you don’t build the play going from defence to attack with a link in the middle, that is Pablo [Hernandez] and [Mateusz] Klich’s job, in this situation it was Bamford who had to do this.

"We lost from this point building better the situations, but we had more presence in their box.

"If you have something you lose the other thing and if you have one thing you lose the other.

"When you have two centre forwards and they don't receive the ball clearly, it's an advantage, but also a difficulty."

This could be bad news for Nketiah as Bielsa has already shown his preference for Bamford in attack and it wouldn't be a surprise if the Argentine sticks to that against Preston.
