Marcelo Bielsa delivers key Pablo Hernandez injury update ahead of Leeds United vs Fulham

Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that Pablo Hernandez could be back in contention to play against Fulham.

The Leeds United midfielder missed last week's 2-0 defeat to Cardiff after suffering a niggle, and his absence was felt as the Whites were beaten in Wales.

But Leeds face Fulham on Saturday in what is a pivotal clash in the race for Premier League promotion, and Bielsa could be boosted by the return of Hernandez.

"Pablo has trained with us all the week," Bielsa said, during his pre-match press conference.

"Tomorrow we finish the work with him. According to how he feels, he is going to be involved in the match or not on Saturday."

Hernandez has played a key role in Leeds' success this season, scoring six goals and delivering six assists in 28 appearances.

And Bielsa is confident that the 35-year-old can return in good shape to help his side seal automatic promotion, with his injury not deemed to be serious.

"It wasn’t a big deal because he had a muscular problem and he recovered in 10 days. Short recovery period points to it not being serious.

"Pablo knows his own body, we want to wait until tomorrow so he can confirm how he feels."
