Marcelo Bielsa delivers Eddie Nketiah injury update

Marcelo Bielsa has said Leeds United are continuing to evaluate Eddie Nketiah on a week-to-week basis following his recent abdominal injury as the striker was ruled out of this weekend's clash against Blackburn Rovers.

"It’s the same I said before," Bielsa said in his pre-match press conference at Thorp Arch.

"His injury is in his abdomen. Week-to-week we evaluate the time of recovery. Now is one week and they told us one more week to see how he progresses. In the next seven days I will inform you if he is able or must continue to recover."

Nketiah is Leeds' leading goalscorer this season, having netted five times across all competitions, one more than Patrick Bamford, who has started every Championship game so far this season but has gone ten games without scoring.

The Arsenal loanee suffered the injury in training last week, ruling him out of Saturday's win over Queens Park Rangers, with Bielsa admitting that he had planned to start the 20-year-old.

"He was going to play today at the beginning of the match," the Whites head coach said following the 2-0 victory which saw Patrick Bamford shake off an ankle injury and keep his place in the side.

Bielsa's side will start the weekend in third place, with Rovers sitting 16th in the Championship table, ten points worse off than their hosts this weekend in what is the final round of fixtures before the November international break.
