Marcelo Bielsa confirms Pablo Hernandez injury concern ahead of Preston clash

Marcelo Bielsa has revealed that due to an ankle problem Pablo Hernandez is an injury doubt prior to the crucial clash away to Preston North End.

Hernandez played the full 90 minutes against Birmingham City, but was pictured wearing a protective boot following the 1-0 defeat which saw Leeds slip back into third place.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday night's trip across the Pennines, the Leeds United head coach said:

"There are possibilities that Pablo cannot play the game. Roofe will go in his position if Pablo cannot play.

"He received a hit in the last minute of the previous game, his evolution today is positive. We are not going to take any risks if he can make it worse in the match."

Roofe made his own return from injury as a substitute, replacing Patrick Bamford with 20 minutes to go at St Andrews.

Hernandez has been hugely influential for Bielsa's side this season, netting 12 goals and providing 11 assists during the club's promotion push.

Leeds head to Preston tomorrow night knowing that a win will see them return to the automatic places, with Sheffield United in action 24 hours later when they take on Garry Monk's Birmingham City side.
