Marcelo Bielsa and Arsene Wenger comparison as former Liverpool striker heaps praise on Raphinha

Good morning Leeds United fans. Here is your morning digest for Saturday, December 5.

Parlour draws Bielsa and Wenger comparisons

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour can see similarities between his former boss Arsene Wenger and Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Bielsa has been at the Whites since 2018 and managed to lift the Yorkshire-based club back to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years after last season's incredible campaign.

Parlour said on talkSPORT : “Bielsa’s done a great job; the energy, the way they play, always on the front foot. Arsene Wenger was very similar, all he was worried about was football and he watched videos of games you wouldn’t even think about watching.

Bielsa vs Lampard - Here we go again

“Some people are just football-mad and I think Bielsa will come into that sort of category, which is not a bad thing.

“He will know every single footballer around Europe and say right away who can strengthen our squad, who we need to make us better. You have got to hold your hands up and say what a manager!”

Lampard casts doubt over Leeds-Chelsea rivalry

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is unsure whether his club and Leeds will reunite their long rivalry ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash.

The rivalry between the Whites and the Blues started in the 1960s, but Lampard isn't sure if that same fierceness will return this season with the sides in the same division for the first time in 16 years.

The Chelsea manager said: "It's hard for me to equate that history and talk to certain players like Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, they don't know that history. So they can only look at Leeds and see a good team, a very well-managed team who play with incredible speed and energy in their game.

"I don't know if rivalry will come into it or not, but I know it will be a competitive match because that's how Leeds approach games these days."

Heskey heaps praise on Raphinha

Former Liverpool and England striker Emile Heskey has explained how Leeds' new signing Raphinha has a "fine edge" after last weekend's winner against Everton.

The Brazilian winger was signed from Rennes in the summer and he scored his first goal for the Whites in last Saturday's 1-0 win at Goodison Park.

Heskey said: “He looks pretty similar (to the wingers Leeds already have). They must have a certain category of players and they all fall into one basket.

"He’s got a lot of energy, going forward and back, which you need in a Leeds side because they play one v one all over the park. He’s got that little fine edge, that little finishing touch that goes with that as well.”
