Marca player ratings for Liverpool vs Tottenham Champions League final - just one three star

Spanish publication Marca is notoriously brutal when it comes to their player ratings and nothing changed after the Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds enjoyed a 2-0 win over Spurs in the final thanks to Mohamed Salah 's penalty goal inside two minutes and Divock Origi 's left-footed strike late on.

Liverpool may not have been at their best but they still showed courage to hold their nerve and win the competition for the sixth time. But when it came to the ratings, Marca gave five of the club's players just one star.

Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, James Milner and Mohamed Salah all earned just one star, while Roberto Firmino was not even rated. That compares with the ten Tottenham players who were handed one star, with Dele Alli and Harry Kane also not rated.

Son Heung-min and Kieran Trippier were rated as the best Spurs' players with two stars but Virgil van Dijk was marked as the star of the game with three stars.

It's important to mention that Marca's ratings are on the scale of zero to three stars so it's a huge compliment that Van Dijk was handed three stars. The towering centre-back was solid all night in Madrid as Liverpool ended up claiming the victory without conceding a goal.

Marca's player ratings for both Liverpool and Spurs can be seen in the tweet below.
