Marc Vetri quits his role at Urban Outfitters

PHILADELPHIA Chef Marc Vetri has followed business partner Jeff Benjamin out the door at Urban Outfitters, two years after selling most of the Vetri restaurant business to the Philadelphia-based retail company.

Vetri and Benjamin still own and operate Vetri Cucina, their Philadelphia restaurant, and they are planning to open a second Vetri Cucina in Las Vegas.

The other brands _ Pizzeria Vetri, Amis, Bar Amis, Osteria, and Alla Spina _ operate under Urban. Vetri and Benjamin retain the charitable arm, Vetri Community Partnership.

Vetri announced his resignation from Urban on social media Sunday.

Benjamin resigned in August.

Vetri declined to comment further on his resignation, but did say that chefs Jeff Michaud and Brad Spence, who were instrumental in creating the Urban-owned restaurants, would remain with Urban.

Vetri restaurant sales have been healthy. In its third-quarter earnings report, released Nov. 20, Urban reported nine-month sales of $18.5 million, compared with $16.7 million in the comparable quarter last year.
