Marc Smyth appointed new manager of Cliftonville Olympic

Double title-winning defender Marc Smyth has been named as Cliftonville Olympic's new manager.

The former defender - who won back-to-back Gibson Cups with the Reds in 2013 and '14 - replaces Brendan Lynch who has taken up another coaching role at the club.

Smyth will retain his position as head of Cliftonville's Academy.

The appointment is one of a number of changes within the underage set-up at Solitude.

Liam McStravick and Kris Watson, who previously coached at various age groups within the Academy, will be part of the new Olympic backroom team

There are also changes within the Academy and NI Football League Academy teams.

Jake Newell and Ryan Catney - who was also part of the 2013 and '14 title-winning squads - will coach Cliftonville Strollers, while Diarmuid McNeice, Oliver McCart and Neil Privilege will look after Cliftonville Under-16s.

Elsewhere, Sean Paul McBride, Frank Ward and Gareth Campbell will take up roles with Cliftonville Under-15s.
