Marc Overmars has previously revealed if he would be interested in a return to Arsenal.
The Dutchman is a popular figure at the north London outfit having scored 25 times in 100 appearances in the late '90s and was part of the Premier League and FA Cup-winning squad in the 1997/1998 season.
But since hanging up his boots in 2004, Overmars has been working behind the scenes at two clubs in the Netherlands.
Most notably at Ajax where he's spent the last eight years as the club's technical director.
But his time in the Netherlands looks to be coming to a close with reports claiming that he has decided to leave the Dutch champions next June.
According to Oriol Domenech, Overmars has "decided to leave the club in June" because "he thinks he's already finished his cycle with Ajax".
Domenech continued that there is no agreement, but should Overmars leave, it's likely he will be linked with Arsenal and Barcelona.
It's not the first time that Overmars has been linked with a return to Arsenal and back in April, 2017, he openly spoke about the fact his former club were keeping tabs on him.
"I think there is a list with some names and I might be on it," he said. "But it’s not that exciting yet.
"I know the club pretty well, I have always kept in touch with Arsenal. So in that respect, it is not surprising, because I’ve had a few good years.
"But right now we’re focused on Ajax. I just signed here for four years."
Arsenal have a technical director in place already in Edu, but they are actively looking to replace director of football operations Huss Fahmy, who left at the end of October.
However, some Gunners supporters believe Overmars should replace Edu as technical director.

football.london exclusively revealed in 2019 that Overmars wanted the job, although, the Gunners opted for Edu instead. But will some fans get their wish at some point in 2021?
