Marc McNulty wanted for Dundee United loan as club chief eyes up deal for Reading striker

Dundee United are keen on giving Scotland striker Marc McNulty a Premiership return.

The Tannadice club would like to seal a loan deal for the out-of-favour Reading frontman.

United have looked at several strikers in this window including Ipswich Town’s James Norwood, Fleetwood Town’s Paddy Madden and a return for Pavol Safranko from Romanian side Sepsi.

United sporting director Tony Asghar is looking at several frontline options ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

The issue for United is that McNulty is on more than double of any other players at Tannadice and there are also concerns over an alleged betting story that has hit the headlines in recent days.

McNulty has previously had two loan spells at Hibs and Sunderland but both clubs paid more than half his wages.

The 28-year-old is an option but it would depend on Reading taking a bit hit on his wages of agreeing a termination.

Meanwhile, Dundee United are close to signing Cameroon midfielder Jeando Fuchs from Alaves .

The defensive player is 22 and has previously played for France at youth level.

He moved to La Liga from Sochaux last summer but spent last season on loan at Maccabi Haifa last season

United are keen to add a striker and a winger before the transfer window closes.
