Marc McNulty is undergoing a medical at Hibs ahead of his return to Easter Road.
It's understood a deal has been agreed with Reading for the Scotland striker, and providing there are no issues, his return will allow Florian Kamberi to complete a loan move to Rangers.
It will also pave the way for Greg Docherty to head in the other direction and join McNulty at Hibs.
Edinburgh-born McNulty proved a popular figure during his loan spell in Leith last year, scoring nine times in green and white.
Hibs had hoped to do a permanent deal to keep him, but that wasn't possible and Jack Ross signed him for Sunderland on a season long loan deal.
That is set to be canceled though and McNulty will reunite with the former St Mirren boss at Hibs.
