Marc McNulty to ask Rangers keeper Allan McGregor for explanation over bizarre flying kick

Marc McNulty admits he could ask Allan McGregor to explain the bizarre incident which saw the Rangers keeper sent off last season.

The returning Hibs striker was on the receiving end of a flying kick from the Ibrox shotstopper in the closing stages of Rangers' 1-0 win in May last year.

McGregor was sent off by Bobby Madden and Steven Gerrard later described the keeper's behaviour as indefensible.

McNulty, who was oddly booked after the clash, revealed he laughed it off at the time but insists he may have a word with the 37-year-old, who he insists tried to blame him.

He said: "I'll maybe ask him what happened as I think he blamed it on me the last time.

"It was one of them, these things happen in football.

"I haven't thought too much about it but I imagine there will be a couple of coming togethers again.

"Do these things linger? No, I actually laughed about it after the game. I thought it was funny.

“It might be the worst time to play them as they will want to come out and make things right.”

The red card followed McGregor brilliantly denying Florian Kamberi, now on-loan at Rangers, a late equaliser.

And his actions left Gerrard mystified.

He said afterwards: “I can’t defend it. He pulls a world-class save off to get us three important points and then he has a moment of madness where he loses control.

“It’s frustrating because we will miss our number-one keeper now and that will start with a very important game next week.

“It is frustrating, I should be going away thinking ‘we didn’t play well but it’s three good points, the run goes on’.

"But I’m not, I’m going away frustrated because I’m going to miss my keeper, who has been magnificent for me throughout the season.”
