Marc McNulty faces SFA probe after Hibs striker's horror stamp in Hearts clash

Hibs striker Marc McNulty could face disciplinary action from the SFA after he appeared to stamp on Sean Clare in the Edinburgh Derby.

The flashpoint came as the two challenged for the ball near the touchline and Clare went to ground.

McNulty continued his momentum but it looked like he could have stopped and the Hibs striker instead stood directly on the Hearts right-back's back.

The incident happened midway through the first half as the two sides battled hard to gain a foothold in the game.

SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte is sure to take a look at the incident and potentially refer it to three former referees to adjudicate on. If the panel members are unanimous then the SFA are likely to offer the frontman a two game ban.

Record Sport columnist Chris Sutton blasted McNulty for his actions in his role as a pundit on BT Sport.

He said: "Do you know what? I think you could see red for that, I really do.

"That's deliberate. What a daft thing to do with the assistant on that side.

"It's a red card. Whichever way you want to look at that. He could have avoided him, he chose not to.

"That's scandalous from McNulty, it really, really is."
