I've been thinking about how I can limit my car use a bit more and so have invested in a hand bike which means I can sometimes train at home and don't have to travel to the gym as often. It's like a three-wheel bike which I can sit in and operate with my arms instead of my legs. I can exercise on it at home using my rolling road (rollers that a wheelchair or hand bike can sit on), which I have in front of the TV to make exercising easy.
Even my friends have been having a go on the hand bike. You can sit in it and secure your legs – it's great fitness for your upper body and your arms. I can even use it to go cycling with friends, which is great. This is another step towards my aim of being greener both at home by using the EDF Energy EcoManager and in other parts of my life, too.
I also had another look at teamgreenbritain.org for more tips on being green-minded and one suggestion was to take showers rather than baths to save water. I spoke to my sister Michelle, who likes to have baths all the time, and I'm trying to get her to change her habits. I generally shower but do like to have a bath after a long tournament. It's a good way to relax.
