Marc Guehi gives Conor Gallagher verdict after on-loan Chelsea man makes Crystal Palace debut

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has already been receiving praise from former Blue Marc Guehi after making his first appearance following his loan move to Crystal Palace.

The Englishman penned a season-long loan deal at Selhurst Park as he aims to accumulate some vital Premier League experience following his year at West Brom in the 2020/21 season.

Gallagher became the second player to swap Stamford Bridge for Selhurst Park this summer, with Guehi himself also having completed a permanent move to Croydon earlier this summer.

Of course, the two know each other relatively well having progressed through the age groups at Cobham with the Blues.

Gallagher made his first appearance for the Eagles on Saturday in a pre-season friendly against Championship outfit Reading, having been selected on the bench before making a second-half cameo.

Helping Palace to a 3-1 victory despite going down to 10 men after Cheikhou Kouyate's early red card, Gallagher set up the second goal for the Eagles was praised highly by Guehi.

Speaking to Palace’s official website after the game, the 21-year-old defender said: "Conor's a good lad, a good boy.

"He's a very good player, and can bring loads of energy going forwards. He's a very creative midfielder, and likes a bit of tackling as well, so hopefully he can bring us a lot of success this season.

"When you're pinned back with 10 men, you need someone to drive with the ball. That’s what he did today."

Guehi, much like Thomas Tuchel and Patrick Vieira, will hope that Gallagher can continue the good form he displayed in his first appearance as he embarks on a second full Premier League campaign.
