Marc Cucurella's stance on Chelsea transfer revealed as Todd Boehly summons Barcelona spirit

Chelsea's newest transfer target Marc Cucurella reportedly favours a move to a certain Premier League club which is not the Blues.

Chelsea's defensive search has ramped up in the past few days with The Athletic reporting that the club are now in talks with Denzel Dumfries and Wesley Fofana. However, as well as Dumfries who is being targeted as Reece James cover at right-wing-back, left-wing-back cover is also being eyed. Joakim Maehle and Benjamin Pavard have been identified so far but a new name has entered the fray.

Brighton's Marc Cucurella is an option that is now being truly considered as Chelsea could channel their inner Barcelona spirit. This is because The Daily Mail have reported that Marcos Alonso leaving for Barcelona is the reason why the 24-year-old former La Liga product is now being lined up.

Currently, Man City are stalling on Brighton's £50million valuation and have threatened to walk away, whilst the Blues look to overcome this hurdle by offering certain players in a player plus cash swap deal.

“He is a Brighton player. I cannot say anything else,” Guardiola last updated via The Daily Mirror.

He then hinted at no new left-back being signed if the price isn't right in City's view: “If it is possible, yes. If not, we stay with what we have. We have enough players who can play there. Joao can play there, Josh [Wilson-Esbrand], Nathan [Ake] can play there.”

With the west Londoners now in real contention to do a Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha and Jules Kounde type move on the current Premier League champions with this shock touted hijack, would the player be keen on moving to Stamford Bridge?

In the same report from the Daily Mail, they indicate that Chelsea is the second option once again, just like it was with the aforementioned Barcelona trio. The former Getafe defender reportedly has his heart set on the move to the Etihad Stadium as he is 'extremely keen' to work under Guardiola.
