Bungie has finally given a clear look at its upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, and confirmed a new launch date, with the extraction shooter now aiming for a March 2026 release on PS5 and PC.
The new ViDoc, shared through PlayStation’s blog and YouTube, breaks down the setting, core gameplay, and how the team has changed things since early testing.

Marathon is set on Tau Ceti IV, a ruined colony, which is a harsh and hostile world where you play as a bio‑cybernetic Runner chasing valuable loot instead of worrying about your original body. Each match will involve a high‑stakes PvPvE run, with you fighting both enemy teams and AI‑controlled UESC forces while deciding how far you want to push before extracting.
The video shows several key locations you’ll move through during a run. Perimeter is the starting zone, while Dire Marsh is twisted by strange anomalies and demands more awareness and coordination. Outpost, a heavily defended UESC base with a huge spiraling “Pinwheel” structure, turns into a brutal choke point full of traps, drones, and tight angles where teams are forced into clashes over top-tier loot.

Endgame content shifts the action onto the UESC ship itself, specifically the Cryo Archive deck. Here, you have to loot frozen vaults in compact, raid‑style missions against tougher enemies and better‑equipped enemy squads. The final, seventh vault hints at a bigger mystery, featuring something even UESC forces are clearly afraid of.
The trailer also highlights systems that have changed since the alpha. Proximity voice chat lets you talk to nearby squads, while dedicated solo queues and the Rook scavenger option give lone players safer ways to learn and gather gear.
Bungie is leaning on its shooter experience with fast gunplay, deep loadout building, and plenty of loot, plus visual and audio upgrades on PS5 to sell the tension of every movement and gunfight.
Marathon is targeting a launch price of $39.99, and additional regional pricing to be announced later. If you’re into extraction shooters like ARC Raiders and Bungie’s style of combat and world-building, this new trailer is the clearest look yet at what’s waiting on Tau Ceti IV.
