Marathon adds more skins to the rewards pass, following player feedback

Apart from several minor gameplay issues, the most overwhelming feedback regarding Marathon was its rewards pass value, which consisted of only one Runner Shell skin and no premium currency to give back.

To address the player feedback, Bungie stated on March 10 that it’s adding more Runner Shell skins to the Marathon rewards pass’s free and premium tiers. The developer aims to release them sometime in mid-April, around the time of the Season 1 mid-season patch.

We also got a sneak preview of the upcoming cosmetics. There are skins for four Runner Shells: Recon, Thief, Assassin, and Destroyer, among which Recon will be on the free track. There’s also a free skin for the WSTR Shotgun (which is one of the strongest weapons in Marathon right now) and an emblem. All the cosmetics come in a black and white look styled with decals, similar to the current Achromatic Rush Vandal skin on the last page of the rewards pass.

Apart from the rewards pass update, Bungie revealed new earnable cosmetics coming mid-season. These include Arachne Shell skins that you will be able to earn from the Codex. The skins are in signature black, red, and white colors, with a splash of blue to resemble Runner’s blood. Considering Arachne is a PvP-focused faction, be ready to get into the middle of the action once they drop.

This comes shortly after Bungie adjusted the amount of LUX you get from a $10 bundle, increasing it to 1,120 from 1,100. While it’s a minor change, it lets you pick up skins priced at 1,120 without purchasing another LUX bundle.

The rewards pass adjustment has been one of Bungie’s quickest reactions to microtransaction feedback, considering Destiny 2 has often been called a microtransaction hell. On the upside, it proves the studio learned from its mistakes and is committed to improving Marathon‘s experience.
