More areas in England will be coming under the strictest lockdown measures from this Friday.
Following tense discussions with local leaders, Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire will be joining the Liverpool City Region and Lancashire in the highest tier - Tier 3 - of the government's local lockdown system.
Under a Tier 3 lockdown, social mixing between households is banned indoors and in private gardens and hospitality venues.
Pubs and bars also have to close unless they can operate as a restaurant serving 'substantial meals'.
In the map below, you can see which areas will be under which Tiers from Friday.
Every borough of Greater Manchester, along with Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield in South Yorkshire, will be in Tier 3 from 00.01am on Friday (October 23).
It will mean that 7.3 million people, or 13 per cent of England’s population, will be living under Tier 3 restrictions.
Tier 2 restrictions, which include a ban on household mixing indoors, are in place in London, parts of the West Midlands, the north east and other areas.
Meanwhile, coronavirus restrictions in Scotland, including the closure of pubs and restaurants in the central belt and a 6pm indoor hospitality curfew elsewhere, will be extended to November 2.
First minister Nicola Sturgeon made the announcement today, confirming that restrictions will now be in place until a tiered system is introduced with different measures for different areas.
