Map shows the Nottinghamshire neighbourhoods currently worst hit by Covid-19

Nine Nottinghamshire neighbourhoods have a Covid-19 infection rate of more than 400 cases per 100,000 people, latest data shows.

An interactive map released by the government, which charts the rate of change of the virus, is colour-coded to give a clear indication of where it is spreading quickest.

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people and charts the last seven days to December 27.

The neighbourhoods with the worst rates, coloured maroon, are spread across Nottinghamshire, from Keyworth to Nottingham to Worksop.

When looking at the county's districts, Covid-19 infection rates are rising in some parts of Nottinghamshire but falling in others.

Rates have risen in Ashfield, Broxtowe and Mansfield but fallen in Bassetlaw, Gedling, Rushcliffe and Newark & Sherwood.

And rates have also slightly increased in Nottingham from 237 cases per 100,000 people to 247.8.

It comes as Nottinghamshire's hospitals now have 50 percent more Covid patients in beds than during the first peak here in April, the NHS has confirmed.

There were 450 beds occupied by Covid patients as of December 29, this compares to 396 on December 22.

Tier 4 restrictions are now in place.

A total of 754 new coronavirus cases were recorded across Nottinghamshire in the past 24 hours, marking yet another rise compared to previous days.
