Map shows roads which will be gritted during colder weather after snow falls

Gritters will be out in force tonight across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire following snowy conditions on Tuesday, December 29.

During winter weather, both the city and county councils grit A and B roads and major bus routes. They also grit some additional routes during severe weather.

The city council said the minimum road surface temperature expected is minus 3.2C overnight on December 29.

Roads across Nottingham city, Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Broxtowe, Gedling, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood and Rushcliffe will all be gritted to help create safer driving conditions for vehicles.

Nottinghamshire County Council has also released maps detailing each road they will grit over winter when needed with the main roads highlighted purple.

It comes as the Met Office extended its weather warning for snow across some areas of Nottinghamshire for later this week.

Snow came down across most of the county on the morning of Tuesday, December 29.

The Met Office has since issued another yellow weather warning for snow on both Wednesday, December 30 and Thursday, December 31.
