Map shows Nottinghamshire areas with the highest and lowest Covid-19 infection rates

An interactive Government map has shown the areas in Nottinghamshire with the highest and lowest active rates of Covid-19.

Three areas in the county currently have rates 'significantly above' than the England average, which currently stands at 484 cases per 100,000 people.

The areas - one in Mansfield, one in Ashfield and the third in Nottingham City, all have rates higher than 800 cases for every 100,000 residents.

This is according to data accurate for the week ending January 16, which shows infections rising in two of the three small neighbourhoods.

On the other hand, three areas in the county currently have active rates 'significantly below' the national average - fewer than 100 cases per 100,000 people.

Two of these areas are within the Newark and Sherwood district, while the third is in Rushcliffe borough.

The data comes as infections continue to fall in all-but-one area of Nottinghamshire each week.

Mansfield is the only area to see week-on-week rises in infection rates, while new cases have reduced in all other districts and boroughs as well as the city.

Below are the three areas with the highest infection rates in Nottinghamshire:

1. North Sherwood: Rate of 922.6 cases per 100,000 people, with 76 new cases in the week ending January 16 (increase of 65.2 percent).

2. Market Warsop: Rate of 877.9 cases per 100,000 people, with 55 new cases in the week ending January 16 (increase of 57.1 percent).

3. Sutton Central and Leamington: Rate of 829.5 cases per 100,000 people, with 66 new cases in the week ending January 16 (fall of 25.8 percent).

Below are the three areas with the lowest infection rates in Nottinghamshire:

1. Newark South West: Rate of 83.9 cases per 100,000 people, with seven new cases in the week ending January 16 (fall of 56.2 percent).

2. Lady Bayl: Rate of 93.8 cases per 100,000 people, with eight new cases in the week ending January 16 (fall of 57.9 percent).

3. Southwell: Rate of 94.8 cases per 100,000 people, with seven new cases in week ending January 16 (fall of 41.7 percent).
