Map of Newark and Sherwood district shows where cases have been found in the last month

Public Health England (PHE) has published information at neighbourhood level showing the rate in part of Nottinghamshire for the past four weeks.

The information contains the Lower Tier Local Authority Watch List which the Newark and Sherwood District was added to on August 13.

It shows a map of the areas where there is the highest proportion of cases as well as timelines.

In the most affected areas, the rate is between 200 and 399 per 100,000.

The cases have also shifted from larger parts of the district to more concentrated neighbourhoods.

The district became a concern to health officials after there was a two week period when Newark recorded a steep rise in coronavirus cases.

In the most recent seven days of complete data, there have been 34 confirmed cases across Newark and Sherwood.

A further 72 positive cases have been recorded at the Bakkavor dessert factory in Jessop Way where some of the cases were linked.

But health bosses have confirmed around 700 employees had been tested at the site, and the rise had not just come from the factory.

Residents have been reminded about the importance of keeping the infection rate down by not mixing with multiple households.

According to the localised data, the most recent cases have been in the 18 to 64 age category with the majority being tested in a Pillar 2 setting (in the wider community outside of hospital settings).

The current number of positive cases is edging close to the level they were at around the second week of May, however they are now on a downward turn.

Jonathan Gribbin, Public Health director for Nottinghamshire County Council, said in a recent interview there was "no reason for us to bring in a local lockdown just at the moment."

"What we are most focused on is actually working in a way that would prevent that from being needed."
