NAGPUR: Senior Maoist cadre Narmada Akka, arrested along with her husband Kiran in 2019, is learnt to have died in a hospital in Mumbai on April 9. The popular Maoist leader, slapped with 65 offences after arrests, was suffering from cancer.

Maoists have declared a one-day bandh in the Dandakaranya, stretching to Chhattishgarh, Maharashtra, parts of Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, on April 25.

After being involved in Maoist activities for three decades, Narmada and her husband were arrested in Hyderabad where they had gone for treatment in connection to the blast in May 2019 in north Gadchiroli, where 13 jawans were killed along with a civilian driver.
