The State joined the rest of the world in observing the Earth Hour on Saturday to raise public awareness about climate change.
Large sections of the public joined the worldwide campaign spearheaded by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) by turning off lights and electrical appliances between 8.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.
Becoming part of the movement, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted: “#EarthHour starts at 8.30 p.m. today. Let’s stand united for the home we all share and observe earth hour by switching lights off till 9.30 p.m. It would be a humble step to create awareness against the biggest peril we all face – climate change.”
