'Many might call it an upset, but I say Afghanistan...': Wishes pour in for Afghans after historic win over England

NEW DELHI: In a stunning turn of events, Afghanistan scripted one of the most significant upsets in World Cup history by defeating the defending champions England by 69 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.

Afghanistan, who were put into bat, posted a total of 284 before being bowled out in 49.5 overs. They then returned to dismiss England for 215 in 40.3 overs to register their second World cup victory ever.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a pivotal role, leading Afghanistan's innings with a brisk 80 off 57 balls, while his opening partner Ibrahim Zadran added 28 runs, forming a commanding first-wicket partnership of 114 runs in just 16 overs.

The moment Afghanistan posted a stunning upset win over England, social media platform 'X' went abuzz with heartfelt wishes for the Afghans.
